Imagine wakening up every single day to the certainty that one or more of your family, or your neighbours, or your country’s men, women or children were going to be murdered in your streets, and imagine that every time it happened the world would blame you for it, and that the worlds media would empathise with the murderers. This is the everyday reality for the Jewish people in Israel.
Imagine wakening up every day to the realisation that you may very well be the next victim, and that the only motivation for killing you will be that you are a Jew. Furthermore, there is a predictable inevitability that these nearly daily killings are going to continue into the foreseeable future, and there is nothing you can do about it, because the Palestinians who are doing it have been, for decades, indoctrinating and brainwashing their own children to fear and hate Jews as pigs and apes, and that Jews should be killed at every opportunity.
The featured photograph on the introduction of this article is of 19 year old policewoman, Cpl Hador Cohen who was murdered on Wed 3rd of February 2016 while on guard near Damascus Gate in the old City of Jerusalem. Hador and fellow policewoman Ravit Mirishvili were attacked by three Palestinian assassins carrying a Karl Gustav machine pistol, knifes and pipe-bombs. Hador managed to kill one of her attackers before being critically wounded herself, saving the life of her friend in the process. The other assassins were killed by security forces who arrived on the scene. Hador died later in hospital, her friend survived badly wounded. Hador Cohen was a courageous young woman doing her job defending her friend, her people and her country, a true hero.
The following are just one or two of the many Israeli citizens who have been attacked or murdered by Palestinian terrorists in recent weeks.
A 23 year old woman, Shlomit Krigman was attacked and stabbed in the West Bank settlement of Beit Horon. Shlomit died from her wounds later in hospital. Another 58 year old woman was attacked and wounded at the same time outside a grocery store. Shlomit had been visiting her Grandparents at the time. Two black clad terrorists were shot and killed after a short chase.
A pregnant woman Michal Froman, daughter-in law of the late peace activist Rabbi Menachem Froman was stabbed on the street of the West Bank settlement of Tekoa. Fortunately Michal survived her serious wounds.
A 38 year old mother of six children, Dafna Meir was stabbed to death in her own home in Otniel in front of her oldest daughter. Dafna, a nurse, had voiced concern about the continuing terrorism and had said ” The situation isn’t easy, and sometimes it feels like a game of Russian roulette.”
Mother and father Eitam and Naama Henkin were shot to death in their car with their four children looking on. Naama was killed instantly but her husband Eitam managed to get out of the car and open the door for his children and told them to flee as fast as they could. He then collapsed and died. A brave man who loved his children.
The above are just a tiny number of the latest hate attacks on the people of Israel. If you want to see a more comprehensive list click here, but I warn you if you want to print it off you will need to have a full pack of printing paper handy.
It is bad enough that Israel and her people are having to face such persistent and brutal attacks, but when it is taking place against a background of ever increasing global anti-Semitism it puts Israel into an unenviable and isolated position. The Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon dismisses Israel’s concerns with ” it is human nature to react to occupation.” If Israel really was occupying Palestinian land, which it isn’t, some kind of reaction might be expected, but murdering innocent civilians is no way to react.
Hillel C. Neuer of UN Watch sums it up nicely in an open letter to Ban Ki-Moon. You can read it here, it pulls no punches. If any other non-Islamic country were to be subject to even a fraction of the terrorism against it’s population that Israel has to endure, there would be international outrage, but of course the Western establishment elites don’t particularly like Jews anyway, so no big deal then.
