Anti-Semitism is a particularly unique and virulent form of race hatred. Paradoxically it is often exhibited by those who are the most militantly opposed to other forms of racism, or so they say. The progressives are an excellent example. Anti-Semitism, or let’s call it what it is, Jew hatred, comes in a multitude of different guises and is often fiercely denied or cloaked in diversionary sophistry. For example, ” I don’t hate Jews, I just hate Israel ” or ” I don’t hate Jews, I just hate Zionism”, as if a particular and special relationship between Israel, Zionism and Jews didn’t exist, but it is the best excuse the anti-Semite can come up with.
One of the most common catalysts for Jew hatred is the religious belief held by Jews that they are ” the chosen people”, that they are chosen by God. Judging by the number of times this apparent Jewish exceptionalism is brought up by anti-Semites, it seems to provide them with a convenient excuse for their resentment. However, Judaic exceptionalism is passive, it does not require, desire or pursue the spread of Judaism to others. Any proselytising which takes place is never driven by the faith but by the individual who wishes to convert, and it is not automatically rubber-stamped either. Unlike some other religions Judaism is largely exclusive and does not thrust itself upon others. So it is difficult to understand why it should be regarded as a threat to other religions, or indeed to non-religion.
Ironically, Islam is the very opposite. It takes proselytising to a brutal extreme where failure to conform is subject to death. Yet, the progressive anti-Semites do everything within their power to enable and extol the ” Religion of Peace” The Jew hatred which emanates from the Islamic world is without doubt an extreme threat to Israel and the Jewish people, all the more so since it is thoroughly institutionalised and openly explicit in its violent intent, with children from the youngest age being taught that Jews are the offspring of pigs and apes. It is a particularly nasty and all- inclusive form of Jew hatred.
However, if it wasn’t for the grave and dangerous threat from Iran’s nuclear programme, coupled with it’s heinous promise to commit yet another holocaust against Israel and the Jewish people, I would have said that taken in isolation, Islam is not the greatest threat to Israel, because Islam is Israel’s enemy “in front”. Islam is openly exposed and arrayed in all it’s hate for Israel and the whole world to see. The great Chinese general Sün Zï ( 6th century BCE) in his book ” The Art of War” said ” It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperilled in a hundred battles”. The modern Israel can look back at thousands of years of joy and grief, and after the last great grief ” The Holocaust, Israel knows itself very, very well. The Jewish people have also had 1400 years of constant institutional hatred directed at them by Islam, and knows that particular enemy better than Islam knows itself. Both of Sün Zï’s criterion are ably met.
The greatest threat to the Jewish people comes from the enemy ” behind”, their “friends”. It’s not that Israel is not aware of this problem, it is only too aware that their “friends” are only friends in name only, but at a time when they are facing the potential threat of nuclear annihilation from Iran, the back-stabbing West are forcing Israel to fight on multiple fronts. The recent events at the United Nations highlights the problems Israel has with its “friends”. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a dramatic and impassioned speech, appealing against the shameful so called Iran deal, during which he emotionally reaffirmed Israel’s long standing friendship with the US, but we can say with confidence that he meant the people of the US, and not the present government and administration of Barak Hussein Obama, who was notable in his cowardly absence. Just to drive home Obama’s anti-Semitism he arranged the absence of UN Ambassador Samantha Power and Secretary of State John Kerry, a deliberate breach of UN courtesy and protocol.
Contrast this with Obama’s embarrassing obsequiousness with Muslim leaders and his persistent exaltation of all things Islamic, and where Obama and Islam are concerned his continual proverbial ” duck-quacking”, leave us in no doubt where his sympathies lie. As the UN has disgracefully shown us, most of the worlds “fiends” of Israel, are back-stabbers. With the rise in Islamic controlling influence in the UN, and the almost universal spread of progressive politics in the West, and an unholy alliance between them, Israel is being forced into an unwanted isolation.
Although I don’t suppose Israel has ever seriously considered the UK to be a genuine friend, and rightly so. The recent revelation that David Cameron and the UK government entered into secret meetings and made a secret deal with Saudi Arabia to ensure that both countries got places on the UNHRC, despite Saudi’s atrocious human rights record and explicit Jew hatred. This exposes the UK government elite’s active disregard for the interests of one of the few remaining democracies in the world ( The UK not being one of them, because of its membership of the unelected European Union). I have little doubt that there had been some trade bartering going on as well.
The difference between Obama’s anti-Semitism and that of Cameron’s government is that Obama’s is rooted in his Islamic sympathies. Whereas Cameron’s is based upon zealous expediency, ” Yes we know we sold you down the river, old chap, but don’t take it personally. Business is business after all.”. Ironically, the very self same attitude which anti-Semites have traditionally accused Jews of having.
The problem the Jewish people have in dealing with anti-Semitism is that it is like the mythical Greek Hydra, you no sooner cut one head off when another grows in its place. It can also be compared to Bubonic Plague, it can spread to all societies and to all levels of society. You are just as likely to find it down the pub as you are to find it in the Bishops Palace, which brings us to that very place.
The leaders and elites in the Christian Churches have always harboured resentment against Judaism. From the Biblical Paul to the present Church of Rome, to the Protestant Churches, resentment and anti-Semitism regularly surface, and at this moment in time it is particularly evident. Mostly, I believe because many of the Bishops and Church leaders are a direct product of Western liberal leftist progressive Universities. Right now hundreds of thousands of Christians have been or are being slaughtered and tortured in the most horrific way. Indeed it could easily be described as a Christian holocaust, and the European Church leaders sit back and DO NOTHING.
More than that they seem to be more concerned and condemning of the fact that the Jewish people of Israel are valiantly defending themselves against the very barbarism which is daily murdering the Christian Churches own flock. The European Churches seem to be suffering from a massive widespread dose of Stockholm Syndrome, and as if to confirm it, the Lutheran Bishop of Stockholm (where else) Eva Brunne who has a history of anti-Semitism and Dhimmitude to Islam has proposed that a church in her diocese remove all signs of the cross and provide areas for Muslim prayer. You couldn’t make it up! The previous Archbishop of Canterbury once even recommended that some aspects of Sharia Law be adopted in the UK. All of this going on while to quote from an article in The Clarion Project of the fate of Christians in Iraq –
“A spokesperson for Christian aid said, ” In front of the team leader, and relatives in the crowd, the Islamic extremists cut off the fingertips of the boy and severely beat him, telling his father they would stop the torture only if he, the father, returned to Islam. When the team leader refused, relatives said, the ISIS militants also tortured him and beat him and the two other ministry workers. The three men and the boy then met their deaths in crucifixion.
Eight other aid workers were separately executed for refusing to denounce their faith. In front of a crowd that was summoned to watch, two of the workers, women aged 29 and33, were raped before all eight were beheaded.”
The only reaction to all of this by the Christian leaders, including Pope Francis is to extol the virtues of Christian martyrdom. An easy thing to do from the bejewelled majesty of the Vatican or the cosy comfort of a Bishops Palace. European Christendom is withering on the vine because the Christian flock is being betrayed by its leaders. If the Pope and the Bishops genuinely believe that martyrdom is such a wonderful thing, why don’t they lead by example and go to the war-torn areas of the Middle East and sample it for themselves? They will no doubt defer.
No discussion about anti-Semitism can possibly ignore the most infamous anti-Semite of all times, Adolph Hitler. One would think that an examination of Hitler’s thoughts and actions would uncover a root cause of Jew hatred, and therefore guide us to a solution, so let’s see. In order to understand Hitler’s vile hatred of Jews we must read his book ” Mein Kamph”.( I hasten to add that I do not mean ” understand” in anything like a sympathetic way, but in the way of Sün Zï, to know your enemy). It is the early chapters of this book which reveals some surprises. For example in chapter two he relates to his teenage years in the city of Linz, and I quote –
“There were very few Jews in Linz. In the course of centuries the Jews who lived there had become Europeanized in external appearance and were so much like other human beings that I even looked upon them as Germans. The reason why I did not then perceive the absurdity of such an illusion was that the only external mark which I recognised as distinguishing them from us was the practice of their strange religion. As I thought that they were persecuted on account of their Faith my aversion to hearing remarks against them grew almost into a reeling of abhorrence. I did not in the least suspect that there could be such a thing as a systematic anti-Semitism.
Then I came to Vienna.”
If Hitler is to be believed, his hatred of Jews developed and was never because of religious bigotry, and since Hitler’s self conceit was so great it is unlikely that he would seek to excuse his later anti-Semitism. The ominous sentence in the above quote is his ” Then I came to Vienna”. When he arrives in Vienna he encounters for the first time a large community of Jews who have preserved much of their own culture and it is then that Hitler’s extreme nationalism surfaces. Hitler now makes great play of the fact that the Vienna Jews wear the caftan and that they had “black sidelocks”. When looking at a Jew with such appearance he comments ” Is this a German?” He concludes that because of their appearance and behaviour Jews are non-Germanic and therefore are the enemy. He then becomes aware of the Social Democrats, equivalent to Bolshevists, Marxists and Communists and that a number of Jews including Marx himself, are central to the formation and execution of what was to become known as Jewish Bolshevism, an imagined Jewish conspiracy to rule the world and therefore his beloved Germany. The die was cast, the unsophisticated circuit in Hitler’s twisted brain was complete. ” I now realized that the Jews were the leaders of Social Democracy. In face of that revelation the Scales fell from my eyes. My long inner struggle was at an end.” What followed tainted history forever.
Most of the above is already familiar to historians, but the point I am making is that Jew hatred is protean in nature and that it is multifaceted and complex, making it almost impossible to find a single root cause to blame it on, and therefore equally difficult to find a solution. If we cannot find a solution to the problem of Jew hatred, Europe and the West must at least learn to control it before it devours the very fabric of Western civilisation and plunges us into a new dark age many times worse than the last. Where the right to life ceases to exist, and where we are enslaved by a 7th century death cult.
The Middle East and parts of Africa are already engulfed in a barbarity of unimaginable barbarity. If the Western elites cannot expunge their hatred of Israel and the Jewish people they must at least lay it aside in the common good. We must support Israel in its struggle to survive. Israel’s war is our war because the outcome will be the same for all of us.
